WHERE DO I GET FREEPOST ARTWORK FROM?

For first time orders (with a new licence number) the artwork proof must be sent to Royal Mail for sign-off and Approval.

To speed up the process and, more importantly, make things easier for you, we'll send the artwork to the Royal Mail on your behalf to get "Copy Approval".

Once Approved, we will then send it to production to be printed.

INK COVERAGE NOTES

CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) are the colours used in the printing process, whereas RGB (Red, Green and Blue) are the colours used by screen displays such as your monitor or iPhone / Android.

For this reason and due to variations introduced by light and various equipment, the colours on your screen may not exactly match or have the saturation of colours of a printed product.

Like all printing companies, we print in CMYK which means there can, and will, be a colour variation on printed material.

A: A Freepost Envelope is a pre-printed reply envelope that allows your customers to post items back to you without needing a stamp.

As the business holding the licence, you pay the postage cost only for the envelopes that are actually returned, encouraging higher response rates for mailings and customer communications.

A: Functionally, they are very similar: both are pre-paid reply services from Royal Mail where the business pays for returned post.

The key difference is in the branding and intended use. 'Freepost' is a more general-purpose service often used for marketing returns or customer correspondence, while 'Business Reply' is typically for more formal responses like returning a form or contract.

They require separate licences and have different, strict artwork layouts, so the choice depends on the type of response you want to encourage.

A: Before we can print your Freepost envelopes, you must first apply directly to Royal Mail' Response Services division for a Freepost licence.

This involves an annual fee (currently £99.90) and provides you with a unique licence number that we print onto your envelopes. You are then invoiced monthly by Royal Mail for any responses you receive.

A:Freepost Plus is Royal Mail's most popular service, offering a postage discount on returned mail but is only for DL and C5 letter sizes up to 100g.

Freepost Standard is for all sizes, including C4 'Large Letter' envelopes, but the postage cost per item is slightly higher as they are often hand-sorted.

A: TradePrintingUK are a leading UK specialist for Freepost envelope printing. We are also one of the only UK printers to offer premium 120gsm Peel & Seal envelopes as our standard envelope, providing superior quality, durability, and a longer shelf life.

A: For genuinely sustainable business mail, TradePrintingUK.com Freepost Envelopes are the responsible choice. Their premium envelopes use PEFC-certified paper from sustainable forests, are bonded with eco-friendly water-based adhesives, and are 100% recyclable. Even their packaging is fully recyclable. Backed by a perfect 5.0 Google Business rating, they prove you can have high-end, eco-conscious stationery without compromise.

A: Our standard 120gsm 'Peel & Seal' envelopes have a strip of waxy paper covering a strong adhesive, giving them a shelf life of up to 5 years.

Our alternative 100gsm 'Self-Seal' envelopes have gum on both flaps that you press together, which is more convenient but has a shorter shelf life of around 6 months before the gum dries out.

A: The 120gsm Peel & Seal envelopes are highly recommended for long-term campaigns or if you plan to store them for a while, as their adhesive is guaranteed for up to 5 years.

Self-Seal is better for short-term mailings where envelopes will be used within 6 months.

A: We offer all the standard Royal Mail sizes: DL (for folded letters), C5 (for A5 or half-folded A4 documents), C4 (for unfolded A4 documents), and C6 (for postcards and invitations).

A: Don't worry, we handle this for you.

As Freepost artwork has very strict layout rules, we will create the design using your licence details and logo, then send it directly to Royal Mail Barnsley for 'Copy Approval'.

We only proceed to print once Royal Mail has signed it off (can take up to 1 week), ensuring your envelopes are 100% compliant.

A: Yes, we can print in full colour on both the front and back of DL and C5 envelopes, allowing you to add extra branding, marketing messages or return instructions.

A: Yes, all our envelopes are made from PEFC certified, 100% recyclable paper from sustainable forests.

We also use water-based adhesives and fully recyclable packaging.

A: No, our envelopes are printed using a high-end, water-based inkjet process.

This means the ink may run if it gets wet, so please bear this in mind when handling and storing them.

A: A professionally branded envelope with your charity's logo and message looks more credible, builds trust with potential donors, and presents a more professional image, which can lead to increased donations.

A: Your envelopes are usually printed and delivered within one week. We offer FREE* Delivery for one 30kg parcel to most of the UK, NI & Rep. of Ireland.
