What's the difference between an Estimate and a Quotation?
The difference between an Estimate and a Quotation is that an Estimate is an approximation in value, time, or price, were a Quotation is an agreed value, time or price for goods or services.
What information is contained on Estimate forms?
Estimate Form Features include: your client or potential client's details, their Telephone No, Mobile Tel No., and E-mail address. The Estimate Form also has product quantity, Description of Estimate, and the price, and total.
A limited Validity notice of 30 days is standard. The footer contains your client's signature and date, your sales person's signature and date, plus any other Agreed Terms of Sale.
However, they may include branding elements such as logos, as well as fields for customers to sign and date their agreement with a company or individual.
They may also include disclaimers, Terms & Conditions and other legal language to protect the business in the event of a dispute.
For a company to work out its Estimate it needs to know its fixed and variable costs. These include the cost-per-hour of manual labour and the cost of the materials it will need to complete the Estimate. The estimate based on what you think the job will involve.
All estimates should be provided in writing (preferably as Carbonless NCR), including a detailed breakdown. This will help to avoid any disputes about what work or service is included in your overall price.
