A: Yes, in the UK, most church donations are considered charitable giving, and eligible churches or religious organisations can reclaim UK tax on these gifts through their HMRC's Gift Aid scheme.
While religiously affiliated people are more likely to give generously, an individual's decision to donate to a church, religious organisation or a secular charity depends on various factors, including personal faith, motivations, and the perceived impact of their donation.
Key differences between church and other charitable giving:
Purpose and function: Church giving often has a twofold purpose, acting both as a charitable donation and a religious act of worship and stewardship. The donation typically funds the church's mission and ministry, which includes both religious activities and broader community work. Donations to secular charities, in contrast, are for specific humanitarian, environmental, or social causes.
Motivation: While many Christians are motivated to give by gratitude for their faith, non-religious or "cultural" Christians are more likely to be driven by other factors. Surveys show that committed Christians give larger proportions of their income, with younger believers giving the highest percentage.
Focus of giving: Research shows that committed Christians, Muslims, Hindus and Jew regularly give to both their church, mosque, synagogue, temple and secular causes, though the majority of their giving is directed towards their own religious or faith-based charities. Secular charities also have a high level of support, sometimes in cooperation with faith-based groups.
Transparency: This can influence a donor's decision. Some individuals may prefer donating directly to a secular charity with clearly outlined projects, while others have strong trust in their church's stewardship.

Church Envelopes by TradePrintingUK summarised
Overall, Church envelopes serve as an important tool for churches and other religious institutions to collect donations and communicate with their congregation.
They can help to foster a sense of community and support among members, while also providing a convenient way for individuals to contribute to the church's mission and ministry.
We have two popular types of glued flaps on our Printed Church Envelopes for religious organisations:
120gsm Peel & Seal
Our standard, Superior envelope product using premium 120gsm white bond paper, featuring a strong, single-use, pressure-sensitive gum behind a waxy paper strip, that is very easy for donors to remove to expose the glue before sealing the long-edge flap down securely.
They are great for standard DL Gift Aid donation envelopes in the UK as they securely seal in a monetary donation, whether pound notes or coins, which charities and religious groups prefer.
No need for your church-goers, parishioners, mosque-goers / Halaqa, resorting to licking the envelope (Yuck! Nobody needs to lick an envelope any more) to seal it.
They have the wallet, long-edge flap which are very easy for people to use and easy for your church or charity's Treasurer to open again.
These are presented in "Superior" branded, high-end, red & black storage boxes (see our envelope photo gallery above), oozing quality.
✓SHELF LIFE: up to 5 years
✓WALLET: Long-Edge Flap
✓BOXED: in 500's
100gsm Self-Seal (aka "Touch & Seal")
Our alternative premium envelope on 100gsm white bond paper, these use a pressure-sensitive gum applied to both flaps that you then seal down together to form the bond with each strip of gum.
These have the bonus of a security pattern, generically printed inside the envelope.
Preferred by Churches and Chapels as the Self-Seal flaps make it easy for church-goers / parishioners to insert money notes and coins into the envelopes without leaving the Peel & Seal waxy paper strip in the church pews.
✓SHELF LIFE: up to 6 months (as glue will dry out)
✓WALLET: Long-Edge Flap as standard on all sizes, C6 and DL
✓SECURITY PATTERN INSIDE
✓BOXED: in 500's
